Professor Bolsen’s research focuses on the study of political communication, public opinion formation, experimental methods, and U.S. energy policy and climate change. He has published in outlets such as the Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, American Journal of Political Science, American Politics Review, Political Behavior, Political Communication, Public Opinion Quarterly, International Journal of Press / Politics, Journal of Experimental Political Science, and the Journal of Communication.
The National Science Foundation has supported Professor Bolsen’s work, and, in 2011, he was the recipient of two Best Dissertation awards from organized sections of the American Political Science Association. He also received an award for Best Paper presented on a Political Psychology panel at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association in 2011. In 2013, Professor Bolsen received the Franklin L. Burdette / Pi Sigma Alpha Best Paper Award for the best paper presented at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Northwestern University in 2010.
